AIM: TO HELP YOU FIND A WAY FORWARD
Single Session Therapy, as the name suggests, is one session of therapy. This Session would be focused on a single concern and would aim to help you to find the resources within yourself to move forward with your concern.
I will telephone you at a pre-arranged and mutually convenient time to go through a Telephone Assessment with you. This telephone call normally lasts for about 30 minutes.
During the Telephone Assessment I will take some personal details from you and ask you questions about your concern to prepare us both for the actual face to face session which we would book at the end of the telephone call.
The actual Session will take place approximately 2 weeks after the Telephone Assessment and normally lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.
I always record the actual session and can provide you with either a transcript of the session or a summary, whichever is preferable to you.
At the end of the session I will arrange a convenient time to phone or e-mail you to check on progress and to get your feedback about the actual session. This phone call or e-mail will normally take place about 2 months after the session.
The aim of Single Session Therapy isn't to provide a resolution to a concern, but to help you to identify what resources you have which will enable you to move forward with your concern.
The types of concern that this type of therapy can be used for are: Anxiety, Anger, Guilt/Shame, Non-Clinical Depression, Life's Dilemmas, Feeling Stuck, Important Imminent Decisions, Self-Discipline, Relationship Concerns, or as a Preventative Measure.
This type of Therapy isn't suitable for every person or for every concern. If, during the Telephone Assessment or the actual session, it becomes clear to me that this type of therapy is unsuitable for you I will let you know and arrange for you to continue with regular weekly sessions with me or help you find another therapist.
