HEALTH CONCERNS

There are times in our lives when we have symptoms of illness which leave us feeling out of control or unable to cope.

Some people also get symptoms of an illness which remains undiagnosed, even after tests.  This can leave the person feeling scared or unheard.

HOW CAN COUNSELLING HELP WITH HEALTH CONCERNS?

Counselling gives someone the opportunity to talk about their symptoms in a safe, non-judgemental environment.  They will be listened to, believed and understood.

Counselling also gives the individual to space to explore their fears behind any diagnosis that they may have been given and how this may impact their life and the lives of those around them.

Please note that, as a Counsellor, I am unable to diagnose any condition.

There are sometimes emotional problems which cause physical symptoms (known as psychosomatic illnesses).

By exploring the person's emotions alongside their physical symptoms I aim to help them to understand what is happening in their body.  This in turn can help them to regain control and more able to cope with the physical symptoms.

Counselling can also help someone to gain the confidence to pursue further tests if necessary.
